A Prayer—a Circumcised Heart & Life in Christ
Holy Father just as I received Christ Jesus as my Lord, I pray to continue to live in him, rooted and built up in Him; strengthened in my faith in Him, with a heart that overflows with gratitude and thankfulness for Him.
I pray to never be taken captive by hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.
For in you, Christ Jesus our Lord, all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form; and by the grace of God I give thanks that I have been given fullness in you Christ as you reign over every power and authority.
For in you Christ, my heart was circumcised to fully obey God and live a life of self-denial; in you Christ I’ve been empowered by the kindness of God to throw off everything that hinders; and to repent of the sin that can so easily entangle. I give thanks Lord Jesus, that I have been buried with you in the waters of baptism and raised with you through faith in the power of God, who raised you from the dead.
For when I was dead in my sins and in the uncircumcision of my sinful nature, God had mercy on me and made me alive with you Jesus, The Christ. I thank God that, that through you Lord Jesus, God forgave all my sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; I give praise and thanks to you O God, that you simply took all my sins away, nailing them to the cross. And then, having disarmed the powers and authorities, O God, I praise you that in your sovereign and divine power you made a public spectacle of the rulers and authorities that had taken hold of this world, triumphing over them by the cross.
So Lord God, I give you my heart in steadfast loyalty; I set my face like flint against the enemy, and I know I will not be put to shame as you complete the good work you began in me until the day of Christ Jesus our Lord. Please grant me a spirit that will always be faithful to you; for I believe in O God and trust in my mighty deliverance.
Because it is you O Sovereign Lord that helps me, I pray to continue to work out my salvation with fear and trembling; for it is you, our God, and our Father who works in me to will and to act according to your good purpose.
In Christ name I Pray,
Amen
